Make 5

Place numbered hexagonal blocks onto a grid to connect three or more identical digits, merging them into a single higher value.

About

Make 5 is a "Grid-Packing" strategy game combining "Dominoes" and "Hexagonal Cell Logic." The technical core involves "Adjacency Merging." Placing three identical numbers adjacent (not just in a line) triggers a merge into a higher number at the placement site. The hexagonal grid (6 neighbors per cell) offers more freedom than square grids but creates complex "Trap Zones."

Controls

You have a hex grid and a queue of numbered pieces (singles or domino-pairs). Your goal is to merge numbers 1, 2, 3... up to X. Interaction is "Drag-and-Rotate." Drag a piece to the board. Tap to rotate orientation. Place it to connect 3+ identical numbers. They merge into the next number +1. Combo Logic: If a merge creates a new number that matches neighbors, it triggers a chain reaction. Game ends when grid is full.

Strategy

High scores depend on "Central-Hub Building." Do not merge on the edges. Try to create "High-Value Clusters" in the center of the board where they have 6 potential merge points. A pro strategy is "The Setup"—place two '3's with a gap between them, waiting for a '3' piece to drop into the hole. This minimizes "Orphaned Tiles" that clutter the board. Always prioritize placing "Double-Pieces" first as they are harder to fit than singles.

Frequently asked questions

Q: What happens after I make 5?

A: Merging three '5's creates a "Star" (or Bomb). Merging three Stars clears a massive radius of tiles. This is your primary way to clean up the board and survive long-term.

Q: Can I discard a piece?

A: Usually no, or it costs currency. You must play every piece. This forces you to leave "Trash Zones" on the outer rim for useless numbers.
